South African Safari Areas
South Africa is well known for its diversity of habitats, wildlife, cultures and activities for your African Safari. Chief amongst the interests of visitors to South Africa is the wildlife, which is represented in some extensive and well established National Parks, and Game Reserves (most of which are private). The Kruger National Park is perhaps the best known, as are some of the private, satellite Reserves in the the Mpumalanga and Limpopo provinces.
Well known reserves in these areas include the Sabi Sands, Kapama, Timbavati, Thornybush and Balule. The term Greater Kruger is now commonly used to describe the Kruger National Park, Sabi, Timbavati, Thornybush, Balule and adjacent reserves. The Kruger is also part of the vast Great Limpopo Transfrontier Park, which also crosses into both Mozambique and Zimbabwe, making for a unique, and extensive Conservation area.
There are also some excellent Reserves in South Africa's Eastern Cape region, such as Addo Elephant, along with private Reserves such as Amakhala, Kwandwe and Shamwari. Travel to the north West of the Country, and you will find Madikwe, which borders Botswana. Lesser Known, but with excellent wildlife, is the Welgevonden Reserve.
Many of these Reserves can easily be combined into one itinerary, or visited on their own. South Africa boasts some of the greatest diversity of species (both flora and fauna) in the world, along with some breath-taking scenery... definitely worth adding for your Holiday plans.
