Kanga Camp is situated inside the Mana Pools National Park, 15km (a one hour drive) from the Zambezi River, along a seasonal floodplain of the Ruckomechi River in the most remote section of this World Heritage Site. The private concession is set away from the crowds where a private safari experience is the focus, and tracking wildlife on foot is a specialty.
Access to Kanga Camp is either via charter flight into Mana Main or Dandawa airstrip, 30 minutes from Camp, or a five hour scheduled road trip from Harare. Self-drive to the camp is not easy, only seasoned 4x4 drivers should attempt this.
Kanga is a twelve bedded camp, situated close to a water hole which attracts wildlife in the area, as it is their only source of water during the dry season. The six tents are large and of the walk-in Meru style, with en-suite bathrooms, outdoor bucket showers, and flush toilets. The tents have private verandahs overlooking the water hole. There is one family tent which has a double and two twin beds. Lighting in the tents is provided by rechargeable units, backed up with beautiful, crafted silver kerosene lanterns.
The main camp area is built on raised decking, and lies under the shade of large trees, overlooking a splash pool and the Kanga Pan. The central relaxing lounge also transposes as the dining area, where you will enjoy great home cooked meals.
Kanga Pan is an explorer’s paradise… an untamed area within the UNESCO World Heritage site of Mana Pools, offering you the pure and unspoilt African experience. The area is very diverse and permanent water source makes it a hub for wildlife.
