Chiawa Camp's accommodation is in 9 Superior Safari Tents, each with a choice of one king bed or two large single beds, with bathrooms equipped with ball and claw bath, indoor and outdoor shower and his and hers washbasins. The furthest Superior Tent is ideal for honeymooners and boasts the most impressive view in the Zambezi Valley, and its bathroom is outside the tent (though under roof and on the deck). The tents all have timber floors and verandas with excellent views and are accessed by paths running behind them to maximise privacy. 3 of the Tents overlook the "dry riverbed" with quartering views of the Zambezi River, and the other 6 the Zambezi directly.
The main Lodge houses a thatched lounge/bar area with upstairs viewing deck, which provides one of the best views of the Zambezi. The camp also boasts a refreshing plunge pool, with sun deck – a must in the hotter months.
Depending on the day’s activities, breakfasts, brunches and lunches are served plated or as a hot and cold buffet, usually al-fresco, sometimes in the bush, and occasionally on a boat in the middle of the Zambezi. Afternoon tea with sweet and savoury snacks is usually served upstairs on the viewing platform overlooking the Zambezi and just prior to the afternoon safari activities.
Chiawa is famous for its exceptional guiding and wildlife, and a wonderful variety of safari activities – and you can enjoy the area on day and night game drives, nature walks, pontoon boat, and canoeing. For the fishing enthusiast, there are some excellent opportunities (strict catch and release policy). Birding is also excellent in the area, and enthusiasts will be kept busy with sightings.
Chiawa is opening seasonally from 15 April to 15 November.
