Botswana Accommodation options
As it seems to be the most logical, we have divided up the Botswana accommodation options by the main Safari Areas, and this also gives you a good idea of the variety/ type of accommodation that you can expect.
For the Okavango and Moremi, the areas overlap somewhat, and there are some properties which are within the Reserve's boundaries; but the majority, although in the general Okavango area, are set within private concessions. Some of these lodges make use of the Moremi Game Reserve for game drives, but as they also have extensive 'private' space also offer a number of activities in their own concessions.
The Chobe National Park offers an number of diverse areas, the most popular being the northern border (on the Chobe River), and the Savute (alternative spelling Savuti) area, along with the Linyanti. The latter is less well known, but has a unique beauty, and some excellent game viewing.
Although the Central Kalahari Game Reserve is by far the largest reserve area in Botswana, it only houses two lodges, with the rest set in private concessions generally on the northern border. There are also lodges in and bordering the Makgadikgadi and Nxai Pan Parks (now one reserve area), in areas which contrast very well with the Okavango, and Chobe areas.
We suggest a combination of at least 2 areas for a Botswana trip, if you have the time, as it gives you a lovely contrast in terms of geography and wildlife.
