Hi Mandy.
We are back home from our Africa trip. It is hard to come up with enough euphemisms to describe how wonderful the trip was and how great we feel!
Every little detail went off without a hitch. From our flights to Africa, to the places we visited, the transfers, the food, the camps - all of it was perfect!
Thank you for putting this together! If you are interested, here is one of my Facebook posts where I describe, in brief, our trip to family and friends
"Since neither J.. nor I knew much about Africa, we decided to reach out to a travel agent for help. We gave her a rough idea of what we wanted to see and how much time we had, and she put together an incredible itinerary that let us explore a mix of city life, natural wonders, and untamed wilderness. The journey started with three days in Cape Town, where we visited Table Mountain by gondola (no, we did not hike up the mountain ; ) and toured the Cape of Good Hope National Park. From there, we flew to Victoria Falls, staying at the historic Victoria Falls Hotel. We took a helicopter ride over the falls for a sweeping view and hiked the trails within the park to experience their power up close.
The adventure continued in Botswana, where we visited four safari camps. Each location was unique—starting by the Chobe River, then heading into the Savute region in southern Chobe National Park, and finally into the Okavango Delta for our last two camps. Wildlife was plentiful, and we moved between camps on small planes, landing on gravel airstrips. Days followed a rhythm: early-morning game drives, afternoons of a river cruise or relaxing, and evening drives as the sun set. We returned from every game drive exhilarated by what we experienced. Many times, we were within touching distance of big cats but resisted petting them. We were mock charged by elephants—an exhilarating and very humbling experience that gave us a deep respect for these magnificent creatures. We witnessed the circle of life in all its beauty and rawness, and saw giraffes strolling elegantly to waterholes, their long necks gracefully bending down to drink. One of our favorite moments was watching a lion family—two lionesses and six playful cubs—climbing trees, an unexpected and heartwarming sight. And yet, there was so much more. Every day brought new wonders, from awe-inspiring landscapes and sunsets to intimate views of wildlife in their natural habitat.
The camps were wonderful, with knowledgeable and friendly staff who made us feel at home. By the time we left, it felt like we’d made new friends.
Our cameras worked overtime. We still have dozens of photos to process and post, and then we will get to the video. But we did take time to put the camera down and just absorb where we were and what we were seeing.
We appreciate all of your comments. We love to share what we experienced, and hope that you are enjoying our posts."
We have so many wonder photos and memories!
Thanks again.
